The Weekend Six-pointer
Football (soccer) fans will know that a game is referred to as a six-pointer when your team plays against a team close to them in the league table. Not only do you get the opportunity to gain three points yourself, but you also have the opportunity to prevent the opposition getting three points. I’m not really sure if it makes any sense at all, but lack of sense is rarely an impediment to a cliché becoming part of football parlance.
On a personal level I consider it a weekend six-pointer when I spend my time doing progressive, beneficial activities and as such don’t have the time to do regressive, harmful activities. Of course, I could do both but normally if I am in the mindset to do the former, I no longer want to do the latter.
It feels like a double win. A double gain over the old me. I get the three points for eating healthy, walking, exercising, meditating etc. And I don’t get the minus three points from drinking, eating junk food, and sitting around aimlessly watching TV or scrolling through social media.
